We like things a little weathered
Just wanted to show you the fruits of our hard work this weekend. This was a very brown unattractive bedroom grouping just one week ago. and waaalaaa! we made it shabby chic cool, and have a charming little guest bedroom now. Talk about nesting. I've known that we were adopting this baby since last summer, but with the wait estimates getting exponentially longer every month, I didnt see any real reason to hurry on my projects. well, now I'm doing 9 months of nesting in 6 to 8 weeks. People seem puzzled when I talk about having so much to do between now and travel....they're like what? put up a crib and your ready. But I have all these things I really want to get done, before I get her home. I dont know why! I'm like a crazy woman. My husband had to pry the Bissel steam cleaner out of my hands the other night! really! and thats not normal for me, because I am the most layed back person this side of the mason dixon line---I am the ANTI anal---loosey goosey go with the flow kind of girl. But now? I dont know, I guess I just want everything to be perfect when she gets here. I've been waiting to be a mother for so long. Do I HAVE to get every little project done before I bring her home? No
Can I do some of the projects after we get home? Of Course.
After a decade of striving to become a mommy, do I want to bother with closet or garage cleaning after my little pumpkin gets here??????

so the next big project is refinishing 3 pieces of my grandmothers antique furniture for the nursery.

The furniture looks great! Nesting is normal, enjoy it now & then you have all the extra time to enjoy with your little angel later.
Can you send the steam cleaner over to my house when you are done?

Yeah, I understand the nesting thing as it's just begun for me. Knowing that "the call" could come at any time now that we're pursuing a waiting child is making me want to get it all done NOW!
You are not alone, this is the cleanest and most organized my house has EVER been. Since last Summer I've been a clean sweep maniac!!
You're smart to get things done now! I can't tell you all the unfinished things I have sitting around here, made impossible to finish by a 3 foot tall whirlwind of energy!
