Told ya she was a trooper. Babies screaming all around and she was cool as a cucumber and smiling at everyone. What a sweetheart. If she's clean, dry and well fed, she's a happy camper. The medical exam is a formality really, getting us ready for our appt. At the American Consulate. She's ours from the Chinese standpoint, we're just working on the American side of things now.
We're off for a play date and dinner with Hugh, Sonia, and Kailee later, and they fly home tomorrow. We'll miss them even though we've had different schedules, and havent had the opportunity to spend as much time together as we had hoped. Still, its nice having friends from home, right here in the hotel. The upside is that they have a room with a king bed and river view, and we're moving to their room when the leave.
We come home in a week. I have to say, time has really flown. In a way I'm anxious to get home, but I don't want to wish away my time in China, either. If you have to spend 2 weeks in China, simultaneously going through the learning curve of becoming parents, then Shamian island and the White Swan Hotel is the place to be.
Tomorrow we visit the Chen family ancestral home, a Buddhist temple, and an arts and crafts center, and the rest of the day will be free.
