Conversations with Amelia

Amelia has started (sometimes)stringing 2 words together, and recently said her first 3 word string. I think we have our work cut out for us, because this was the conversation that led to her first 3 word sentence;
Mommy(while attempting to change Amelia's diaper---Amelia twisting and turning, and wreaking havoc on the changing table)---" Amelia, stop!"
Amelia (still twisting and turning)---"Stop!"
Mommy (becoming exhasperated)---"No, YOU stop"
Amelia (eyes wide and voice loud)---"NO, YOU STOP"
She then sat up and gave me a kiss and the most angelic grin :)

Happy, Happy, Happy Mothers day.....to me!!!!!!!!!

What can I say about my very first Mothers Day? It was wonderful. Being a mommy is WONDERFUL! The most beautiful thing by far, that I have ever done, or ever hope to do. This has been such a momentous year, with so many firsts that my head spins.
People always say your high school or college years are the "best years of your life", and mine were great, woohoo! But! Nothing can compare to being a first time mom. We have had lots of very stressful things happen in other areas of our life since we returned from China....hence the infrequent posting (well, that and the fact that I lost my digital camera sometime last Nov, and just recently replaced it--I'm electronically challenged, in case you didnt know) Jimmy and I both started new jobs soon after returning home, and I became a brand new mommy and the caregiver of a relative with dementia, all at the same time....and all immediately upon returning from China. But even with all that.......THESE are without a doubt the "BEST years of my life" and my daughter is the miracle that keeps on giving. She makes the most mundane things tolerable, or even fun! sitting in waiting rooms for a relatives doctor appt., going to the grocery store; anything and everything is more fun, and more meaningful, and more full of laughter because of her.
I cannot remember a year before my dad died, that he did not give my mom a corsage for Mothers Day. It isnt lost on me that my husband remembered that as well, and surprised me with my very own Mothers Day Corsage to wear to church. boy..........did I feel like a grown up :))

A Mothers Day Card from Hubby and Amelia
He helped her with the "A" ---- but the squiggles are all hers
Happy Mothers day to me! and to my wonderful mother, and to all mothers everywhere.
And most of all, Happy Mothers Day to all who hope to be mothers...never give up on being a mommy if that is your dream. It is worth every sacrifice you could ever make.
This world--and China, still--- is filled with babies that need mommies. Its crazy that it takes so much time, money, and heartache to get them into homes, but so, so, so, so worth it.
2 years seems like a long wait to adopt a baby, but that baby will change the rest of your life! There is no sacrifice too great, to get her out of an orphanage and into your arms.
Hang in there waiting moms!

Trip to the Zoo, May 2007

I cant lift my head any higher, because my child is sitting on my hair! :) grr

Playing in the bamboo forest

My! thats a big 'ol monkey coming toward me!!!!!

the funniest giraffe she's ever seen. the giraffe, coincidentally, is Amelia's very favorite animal

Amelia sometimes forgets that she no longer has to arch and raise her eyebrows to see where she's going. For which we get alot of the following comment ---particularly from ladies of a certain generation---
" My! but arent YOU bright eyed!!!!"
......and she is!

see what I mean??? she looks very, very, very, very excited to be at the zoo, huh?

" Bye, Bye Birdie," ----she's saying

"Gee, the ride at wal-mart does alot more than this....."

We had a great time at the zoo, although we're already feeling the heat here in georgia.
As we walked from a shady path into the blaring sun, Amelia screeched "HOT!!!!"
See there? she doesnt miss a thing; just like mommy ;)))
