Autumn Moon Festival
Mom, dad, and Amelia celebrated the Autumn Moon with Moon cakes and Tea. Hubby likes neither the tea nor the moon cake, but humors me anyway. The moon wasnt actually out yet but I insisted we gaze at where the moon might be later ;) I got a lot of eye rolling for that one.
Amelia liked her tea

I bought authentic moon cakes from Super H Mart--an Asian food extravaganza, not far from our new house! I got the lotus seed version, but I have to confess, it was a-w-f-u-l. ick. Next year I'll go back to baking a "westernized" version of the moon cake. I found a pretty good recipe in the Dumplings, Dragons, and Moon Cakes book.

Amelia's "Little Buddy"
Amelia sometimes calls my mom her "little buddy." she definately thinks mom is a playmate instead of a regular adult :) and why not? she lets her eat candy, watch lots of noggin, and plays with her the entire time they are together. My mom has actually moved into an apartment in our house, so Amelia now gets plenty of quality time with her little buddy.

Amelia's Third Birthday

Amelia's first bike
Amelia's grandpa got her not one....but two bikes for her birthday. A princess big wheel and a tricycle--both pink and purple, one sporting a REALLY loud horn. Thanks for that horn grandpa--eek. He also bought her all the "fixins"---- the helmet and elbow and knee pads--which she refused to take off the first day and wore to bed. For a week or two after, she continued to wear the helmet and sometimes the knee pads for most any activity...play doh, potty, bathtime, you name it.
CCAI Southeast Reunion

Amelia and I had so much fun at the CCAI reunion in Knoxville. We made a girls trip of it with our friends Sonia and Kailee. The girls loved sharing a hotel room. We ordered room service before bed on Saturday night and let the girls have ice cream at an ungodly hour :)
It was so great to see other families who were in process with us two years ago and I couldnt help but breathe a sigh of satisfaction to see the lobby full of rambunctious kids who were no more than a twinkle in our eyes a couple of years ago
