Date with Dad

Amelia and Daddy had a date at Monkey Joes. Not being a fan of the giant inflatables myself, I took some photos and left them to their fun.
That same weekend, Dad taught her to do "cheers" --you know, cheers, clink, drink. Now we have to do cheers at least two or three times during dinner---at least.
One night I was running her bath water and she said "lets do cheers with our head." I clearly wasnt paying attention and doodling with the water temp because I said something like, "uh, ok"
She head butted me right in the forehead and we both saw stars :) After I recovered a bit I realized what she had said---Cheers with our HEAD! We were both too stunned to say "cheers" of course, but to our credit, neither one of us cried. :)

Life is a Zoo

Perhaps she has a future in plumbing? see the pants

This is the sweetest picture ever :)

Our little birdies

Amelia and I had fun with our playgroup at the zoo! It was a beautiful autumn day--perfect weather. The other thing I remember about that day is this: I told Amelia to climb up in her chair and eat breakfast that morning. She slapped her leg and said in her most exasperated voice: "Mommy, you just WEAR ME OUT!"
hmph....wonder where she heard that????

Our Beautiful Butterfly

Daddy calls this activity perfectly safe; she may be holding a "safe" sparkler according to dad, but to mommy, she is waving a flaming stick! i'm pretty sure that's not ever a good idea!!! ;)The victor and her spoils..... methodically sorting the candy with a sugar crazed glare.....

our little butterfly pooped out before we got back home

Doesnt she look like such a little girl now? where did my baby go? these photos shocked me :) because she looks so much older all of a sudden. The other day, she actually told me something was..."boring"!!!!! can you believe that? I was like..."excuse me? how OLD ARE YOU?" :)
She's also learning to turn my words against me! we were in the car recently listening to a CD they handed out at Sunday School Amelia had been asking and asking to drink my diet coke, but I kept telling her that she can't have coke,.....to drink her water. Then a song about sharing came on and I said "Amelia, isnt it nice to share?"
Amelia: "yes mommy, I like to share"
Mom: "me too! I love to share"
Amelia: "Then you'll share your coke with me?" (with a sweetly exagerated smile, I might add)
...I was so amused and perplexed that I caved and give her just a little sip. :)

Halloween Party

We look forward to our friend's Halloween party every year. Amelia really partied it up in her butterfly costume, with a party at school, at our friends house (below) and a little mini party at choir practice. yes, you heard that right....she's in chorus at church! can you imagine? she loves to sing and dance and does it with so much joy that it really matters very little whether or not you understand all the words. :) so, so cute!
