11 years ago today, I married the love of my life.
Its so sappy, I know. What a cliche'. But in my case, its the truth. And if you cant be sappy about the wonders of love and marriage, you might as well resign yourself to a diet of cardboard, because thats about as appetizing as life is to me in the absence of unabashed romance. I once made a similar statement to a friend and was visibly intrigued. She couldnt wait to find out what kind of wonderfully romantic things Jimmy does for me. I think she was a little dissapointed to hear that we find snuggling on the couch, or sharing a good meal, or sneaking off to bed at 8:00 pretty romantic! Not to say that Jimmy isnt good at the big gesture kind of romance, because he is! I've had my share of candlelight, roses, and trips to centuries old Bed and Breakfasts---and those were dreamy.
But the things that make marriage sweet every day, are the little things. The kindness and caring that occur on the average tuesday. The you and me against the world kind of loyalty that you get from no one else (except maybe your mother), the safety of your husbands embrace, the jokes that only he finds funny, and the butterflies that sometimes still take you by surprise.
Happy 11th anniversary, Jimmy.

Happy anniversary! I totally agree that the things that help a marraige to really thrive aren't the big symbolic things like roses on Valentine's day but the little things like kindness and smiles and tenderness every day. It sounds like Amelia's daddy is a pretty special guy!
